The Apex™ coupling system represents a giant leap forward in component grounding technology.
Unlike typical isolation cones or spikes, the Apex deploys key multi-phase, wide-bandwidth absorption technology to drain the equipment of EMI and RFI using a pioneering approach (UK patent application 2100469.2). A set of three of these couplers placed under each equipment separate opens up a new window of performance that has always been present in the system but shrouded by the damaging effects of EMI and RFI.
Additionally, mechanical draining of high frequency vibrations is achieved using a unique approach. In this regard, the Apex continues with the irregular pattern profile in the shape ensuring that mechanical vibration is not reflected into the component. This is a key property of the coupler that is only attained through specialised 3D printing technology and first deployed successfully in its predecessor. It also employs a hybrid labyrinth to maximise the frequency spectrum over which damaging mechanical energy is dissipated within the coupler body.
Available as Apex40 (entry), Apex50 (intermediate) or Apex60 (ultimate), the heights are 40, 50 or 60mm from the base to top of the hardened steel spike respectively. The Apex is now much more appealing to use with little change to the appearance of the components standing on the rack.
Using the Apex coupling system leads to an outstanding improvement in musical dynamics with less inter-modulation of the frequencies. This inter-modulation reduction results in separation of musical and video detail with such realism in presentation that makes the Apex an unquestionably astonishing feat of engineering triumph.
The purpose of any coupler is to remove unwanted vibration from the chassis of your equipment. Most conventional couplers are regular shapes such as cylinders, cones or cubes. Although easy to produce, these shapes have an inherently resonant acoustic behaviour. In contrast to this, the Apex coupler has non-parallel sides and disruptive surfaces that eliminate these problematic sonic characteristics. We then incorporate a low acoustic impedance spike which is connected to an internal disruptive labyrinth to create a support that is a highly effective acoustic drain.
The tip of the coupler is made from hardened steel making an electrical contact with the component chassis and is also directly coupled to a proprietary ‘lossy antenna’. This arrangement combined with our patented EMI/RFI technology drains unwanted RFI from the component where it is safely dissipated inside the coupler.
With three couplers deployed, the reduction in the chassis noise floor is considerable. The result is a substantial performance increase with significant improvements in timing, bass, separation of instruments and vocals, image placement and transparency.
